New York: Nike Stanton Street Courts by KAWS

Nike collaborated with artist and designer KAWS to drench New York’s Stanton Street basketball courts in Laykold color. The mural is part of the wider Nike ‘New York Made’ project.

  • The courts were designed by Brian Donnelly, professionally known as KAWS, a New York-based artist

  • APT’s product manager worked directly with the artist and matched 27 custom colors

  • Due to the complexity of the artwork, the design had to be transferred from a drawing to CAD, and from CAD onto the court using Laser Mapping technology

  • 5 miles of tape was used to mask out the design

  • The entire installation from milling up the asphalt to project completion was only 18 days.
