Why is tennis being played on 35-year-old court technology?
Courts are the most critical component of the player experience - after all a court is 260m2 while the ball is only 6.6cm in diameter, and a Laykold court will last for many years, while the ball might only last a match.
Yet courts have received relatively little in the way of R&D in the last 35 years – it’s time for a transformation.
Laykold’s Force Reduction courts are the step change in tennis court performance that the players, young and old, are demanding. Old cushion-court technology typically begins to harden within two to three years, degrading down to a 0% force reduction approximately five years after installation.

Sand plays two important roles in a tennis court’s performance
It controls the pace of the surface. Your sand rating is essentially your pace rating. Ensuring the right type and blend of sand will ensure consistency of surface pace and therefore, speed of play.
