Matty Thomas, padel player, coach and padel pioneer

Matty was a UK tennis player who trained and competed all around Europe. In 2005, he moved into coaching and coached nine British champions and has worked with players in the top 100.

In 2013 Matty opened the largest padel tennis venue in UK called Padel Nation and has been championing the sport ever since:

• Represented GB at 2012 Padel World Championships

• Was ranked #1 in Australia and 46 in FIP World Rankings

• Set up padel club in UK (2014)

• Head coach for GB Junior Team that finished third in 2015 World Championships

• Opened ‘Padel Sydney’ the first padel club in Australia (2015)

• Head coach of Australian team at 2018 World Championships

• Represented Australia at the 2022 Masters Championships in Las Vegas, reached quarter finals

• Represented Australia in 2022 and 2024 Padel World Seniors Championships that finished 12th in the world

• Trains the coaches, venues and players across Asia Pacific and created the coaching course for Australian Padel Federation
