Australian Made. Australian Laid. Australian Played.

The benefits of the largest court installation network in Australia.

From Broken Hill to Blacktown, Mount Isa to Melbourne, Laykold has spent 25 years building the largest installation partner network across Australia. This network has taken years of product refinement to tailor our court surfaces to the harsh Australian climate and optimize usage of local raw materials. It has also involved substantial training and support for our installers to ensure Grand Slam manufacturing quality is matched by local installation know-how.

The result is Advantage Australia.

Laykold’s second-life product gives tennis club in Blue Mountains a second life

Installer: APT Asia Pacific

Mount Riverview Tennis Club at the foot of the Blue Mountains received a green Laykold upgrade in 2023. The US Open-quality Laykold Float courts marked a step by the club to rejuvenate its facilities to drive club membership, accessibility and participation.

The iconic blue courts mark a performance boost for the club but there is also a significant environmental benefit to the Sydney community.

Designed to lay directly over the club’s worn out synthetic grass courts, the Laykold courts saved about 40 tons of non-biodegradable waste material from going into landfill.

With a lifespan of over two decades, the longevity of the courts also ensure they fill years and years of playing time rather than landfill.

The club’s treasurer, Graeme Creed explained the value the courts have brought:

“Upgrading the surface at Mount Riverview has helped us enhance the club’s image, increasing membership from 15 to 189 since the new courts were completed to the close of the 23/24 season. This has been a blessing for the entire community. We now run five regular social club sessions a week as well as an energetic Tennis Australia-approved coaching program. With the help of our green innovation, we achieved all this with the smallest possible negative impact on the environment.”

Rafa Nadal Foundation and the Kia Clubhouse Experience choose Laykold to help inspire future players

Installer: Show Court Surfaces

As part of an initiative designed to make tennis more accessible for the next generation of tennis players, The Rafa Nadal Foundation and Kia required the complete renovation of two local community tennis courts in central Melbourne.

Local agent, Show Court Surfaces, installed two stunning Laykold courts in US Open colors at the Maidstone Footscray Tennis Club which provided the stage for a special event for 18 children from Spain and India who may otherwise have been unable to access the game.

But this was no ordinary installation.

The children themselves helped with the renovation of the local facility working with Australian street artists to complete bespoke art pieces depicting Rafael Nadal’s most iconic moments in Australian Open finals.

The kids became the first to play on the new courts during a tennis lesson delivered by Tennis Australia coaches, and the rejuvenated courts have helped to bring a community facility that hadn’t received funding for 15 years back to life.

Jake Elms, from Show Court Surfaces who led the installation explains why it was so special:

“We were able to rejuvenate two old, worn and cracked local courts and turn them into amazing show courts with a great color scheme and design, both for the Rafael Nadal Foundation kids and for the local community to enjoy for years to come.

“Watching underprivileged kids being introduced to the game for the first time and loving playing on our courts was an experience I won’t forget.”

The initiative’s legacy has extended beyond Australia to Paris and is set to hit other tennis-loving cities with the aim of helping to achieve four of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals; greater health and wellbeing, quality education, reduction of inequalities and alliances.
